Kuwait

I have arrived in Kuwait and have been here for little more than a week. It feels like I've been here for a month. It has been very boring and all I've been doing really is watching movies on my mini DVD player. I also have some music to keep me busy. I'm pretty cut off from the rest of the world. I can get on the computer and phones, but I don't want to wait 1 hour just to get on the computer. I have called back home once so far. Just to say that everything is ok. I definitely can't say when I'm going up north, but it will be very soon. What we will be doing is general stuff you see troops doing on TV. Conducting checkpoints and raids maybe even real Infantry stuff like Ambushes and all that. One thing is for sure, we're going to be working alot over there. We are going to constantly work for many times longer than most Americans work. That includes working on Weekends as if they were just any other day. We didn't make it up north for the elections, though, that wasn't the objective time to get there anyway. I read in the Stars and Strips it was a big success. It is my only current way of knowing what is happening around the world. We have been doing alot of training in preparation for going to Iraq. It still hasn't helped time pass by, even though it is good training. Though, I'm sure "Joe" would rather sit around and watch movies all day or hang out with their friends. This is like a catch 22. We can stay here and be BORED out of our minds, but we're not taking hostile fire. Or, we can go to Iraq and get nice TVs, have easy access to phones and Internet and living comfortably, but at the same time we're in danger of getting shot. I would rather be bored.
